COOK FAMILY: MISSIONARIES TO AUSTRALIA
We are burdened for the remote communities of the Australian Outback. Because of their location, they do not have access to the Bible preaching churches located in the city hubs. Our vision is to see self-sustaining, nationally-pastored churches throughout the Australian Outback. The majority of towns in the Outback have no active church of any kind, not to mention Bible-believing Baptist churches. In addition to bringing the gospel to these unreached areas, we are looking to develop the few churches that have been started while continuing to push into more towns throughout the Australian Outback and anywhere else that God might direct us. For that reason, we plan to have an aviation ministry as a valuable tool in helping us reach this goal of evangelism and discipleship in an area that is quite vast, harsh, and offers very little in terms of modern conveniences. We are looking to work with a veteran missionary family that has taken up this needed work.
MINISTRY GOALS
Church Planting
In the Outback, there are few churches of any kind, fewer still that preach the Bible. Our primary purpose in being in Australia is to plant churches that preach the truth of the Bible. Our purpose is to find Australians to take over these ministries so that we can continue to plant more churches.
Bible Institute
With the majority of the young people in the Outback leaving to find opportunities in the cities, it is often difficult to find future and current ministry leaders for the Outback churches. We are praying that with starting a Bible Institute in the Outback, we can help to train leaders for the ministry that are uniquely prepared for life in the Outback.
Discipleship
Without discipleship, a church can never grow to be what God would have it be. The purpose of the church is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with those around it, encourage and grow the believers that attend, and share in worldwide evangelism. This all starts with discipleship of believers at the local church.
Aviation Ministry
The Lord has opened many doors for us to have an aircraft in order to allow us to get around throughout the Outback. We have had the great opportunity to work with AEROMissions (www.aeromissions.org) for flight training. I have my A&P certificate from the FAA to be able to maintain the aircraft while in Australia, along with the periodic help of the AEROMission staff. We are looking for a Cessna 206 or similar aircraft with which to accomplish the travels throughout the vast Outback. Pray with us that the Lord will provide the right aircraft in His timing!
